Islam forbids bribery as it brings harm not only to oneself, but also to others. Reasons that lead to bribery include a weak faith; greed; unstable socio-economy; and weakness in leadership, management, and administration. This was among the contents of the Friday Sermon titled 'Bribery, a Forbidden and Vile Act in Islam.'
Among the harms of giving and receiving bribes include taking away other people's rights unjustly; oppressing others; and betraying trust as well as responsibilities. Accepting bribes to help justify what is wrong means helping each other in matters of sin.
